Invite Me to Teach!

Over the past 20 years, I have taught every book in the bible, yet I continue to learn new things every day from God’s Word. I would love to share with you the lessons He has been teaching me through the lives of his broken heroes. We are all broken, yet God continues to pursue us with His abundant, forgiving love.

All my teaching is from God’s scripture. I believe all scripture is God-breathed and has its fulfillment in the life, death, and resurrection of His One and Only Son, Jesus. From the very beginning in Genesis to the Revelation of Jesus Christ to John, I find that:

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man (messenger) of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 ESV

Kingdom Builders

Jesus sent his disciples ahead of him to share God’s peace and to heal the sick with the message “The Kingdom of God has come near to you.” He is harvesting the fields in our midst. You are invited to join Him. There will be field trips this spring to the ministries that reach out to women and children in need here in our hometown. There will be three events at The Church of the Apostles as an overview. If you want to answer the call of Jesus to reach out, but are not sure where to begin, this is for you!

teaching FROM GENESIS

Seeing Jesus in Genesis

From the Garden in Eden to the Garden in Gethsemane, from the covenant keeping of the smoking pot to the sacrifice of the ram caught in the brambles to a king on a cross. From Judah’s offer of substitution to Joseph’s reassurance of forgiveness, every story God tells has at its heart the story of Jesus, His only Son who would come to rescue His people.

Joseph, Judah, and Jesus: Broken Vessels in a Foreign Land

You know the children’s story of Joseph… but what do you know of his brother Judah? This is the grown-up story they don’t usually teach in Sunday School. Created as a beautiful vessel, Joseph found himself thrown to the ground, broken into a million pieces in a dark prison. Can you relate? Or are you Judah? Living with the pagans, has your life gradually slipped further and further away from God and you have barely noticed the bad decisions you are making? Can the damage be repaired? And what in the world do these two broken brothers have in common with Jesus?

Abraham: Learning to Trust

God called Abraham away from all he knew to become the only person in the Bible called ‘The Friend of God’. It was a relationship that slowly danced the tightrope of disobedience and trust. Even when Abraham lied and ran, God remained faithful. God is a Covenant Maker and a Promise Keeper. Can you trust Him with the little things? Can you trust Him with the big?

Jacob: Struggling with God and the Rest of the World

Jacob was a mess. He struggled endlessly to be first – the favorite, the best - no matter what the cost. His brother wanted to kill him, His Father-in-law insisted he was a thief and a liar, and his home was a hornet's nest of jealousy. What would it take for Jacob to surrender and follow God instead of following his own selfish heart? Was there any hope his life could have a happy ending?

Broken But God…

Don’t overlook these beautiful stories of redemption. The Outsider Hagar. Sarai and Her Terribly Bad Decisions. The Unlovely Life of Leah. Tamar’s Desperation. The Red Cord of Rahab. The Untouchable Woman. Martha and the Weight of the World. The Woman Who Wept. These women were broken, burdened, heart-sick and invisible. But God pursued them. And the impossible happened.

The Loving Father Project

Hannah An, singer and songwriter, joins Georgia Tanner, author and speaker, to combine her album  Songs From the Father’s Heart with teachings from Georgia’s book  Genesis: Small Stories of a Big God. The Loving Father Project tells of the Father's great love and compassion for his broken children through scripture, story, and song.

We explore the Father’s love through the relationships in Genesis: His Everlasting Love and faithfulness to Abraham and Sarah, His offer to Come Rest to struggling Jacob, His invitation to Come A Little Closer to forgotten Tamar, His reassurance You Are Free to imprisoned Joseph, His Sweet Embrace of Joseph’s guilt-ridden brothers, His promise of a coming King and Messiah through Judah’s blessing as he is Fathered in This Moment.

This content can be adapted for events, retreats, or conferences by adding small group discussions, sharing time, or personal prayer and contemplation. It is a scripture-based time of study and worship to better understand the love of our Father God; even for those who have not been loved well by earthly fathers.

Responses to The Loving Father Project: "The event was intimate, honest, and moving." “It really drew me into the Father’s love.” “Two stories that will touch the hearts of many women are those of Hagar and Tamar… Women need to hear that God redeems these horrible situations and cares so deeply for his daughters.” “There are a lot of hard and broken stories in Genesis, and the way they were presented shows the amazing love and faithfulness of God to his people.”
